Due to the mandatory school shutdown, we were unfortunately unable to take our annual field trip to the Detroit Zoo. This did not stop us from enjoying time together exploring animals! Not only did we visit some of the exhibits at the Detroit Zoo virtually, but we also took a virtual trip to the San Diego Zoo to get a close up look at many animals! We enjoyed observing many different species of animals including but not limited to penguins, koalas, tigers, and orangutans. It was also exciting to visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium to see Winter the dolphin with a prosthetic tail who lost her tail after becoming entangled in a crab trap. This was an awesome compliment to our nonfiction reading lesson this week where we learned to compare and contrast two informational books on the same topic (dolphins). We also played a fun game where the students guessed what animals were hiding based on given clues and we concluded our time together by dancing together to the song, "If Animals Danced."
