The students enjoyed learning about groundhogs in their Weekly Reader magazine. We read a book in class to learn additional facts about Groundhog Day. Then, we had some fun making predictions about if Punxsutawney Phil would see his shadow on Sunday, February 2, 2025 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. A few students were excited to learn that he did in fact see his shadow and are looking forward to six more weeks of winter!

In math, the students had fun working with a partner to combine pattern blocks in different ways to discover how to make hexagons. To conclude the lesson, we analyzed and discussed the various ways that groups created hexagons using various pattern block shapes.

During math, students had fun doing Ten Frame Quick Looks where they were quickly shown a ten frame and asked to identify the number represented and explain how they saw it. Afterwards, they enjoyed playing the game, "Match Up with Ten Frames and Numbers" in partnerships.
To celebrate the end of our Word Scientists Phonics Unit of Study, we hosted "Word School" where the students practiced being teachers to an extra special stuffed animal from home! As teachers, they created lesson plans for teaching their students about the snap words they have learned to date. Their plans were fully executed and they were all amazing teachers to their students! A wonderfully fantastic learning experience was had by all! 😍💖🏫
