To culminate our "Making Friends with Letters" Phonics unit of study, we celebrated all that we have learned since the beginning of kindergarten by reading the star names on our word wall while clapping and stomping the beats/syllables. We also read the new snap words we have learned so far on our word wall (a, me, the, I, like, my). In addition, we read all of the things that we labeled around our classroom. Then, we looked through books with partners to notice letters and words that we know. We also discussed how we will walk through life differently now that we have made so many new letter friends. We also sang the song, "Make New Friends," and we concluded our celebration by singing, "The Alphabet Song" to remind us of all of the new letter friends we have made! But best of all, we enjoyed special alphabet cookies to remind us how learning the letters in our names unlocked so many opportunities on our journey to becoming better readers and writers!
