Welcome Nature Lady

We were so excited to welcome the "Nature Lady," Miss Betty, from the Walled Lake Schools Outdoor Education Center to our junior kindergarten classroom at Glengary.  She shared a story about what animals do in the winter and then led the children in sorting animals into three categories - Animals that "Migrate" or move to another place, animals that stay active and "Resist" the cold, and animals that stay dormant and "Hibernate" in the winter.  Then, the students used various materials to build shelters for animals that stay active in winter.  Afterwards, the students made snowy owls out of pincones and cotton balls.  Finally, Miss Betty took us on a hike in the wooded area of our playground to look for animal tracks and search for signs of animals that stay active in winter.
