The leprechauns were on the loose at Glengary on St. Patrick's Day! In Media Center, the students used magnatiles to make leprechaun traps, but did not have much luck catching one! When they returned to class, those tricky little leprechauns made quite a mess of our classroom and even turned the toilets in our bathroom green! They were nice enough to leave a note for the students with a special treat and hidden pots of gold!
During our literacy stations, the students had fun counting the syllables from the pictures on gold coins and placing the coins in the corresponding pots (1, 2, 3, 4 syllable pots), matching lowercase letters on gold coins to uppercase letters on pots and tracing the letters, finding St. Patrick's Day words around the room and writing them on their clipboard, and coloring the Leprechaun, Leprechaun, What Do You See? book to add to their book boxes. During Story Workshop, the students enjoyed using pieces to create and tell stories about a leprechaun.
